This lightweight sculptural vessel is from German/Iranian artist Siba Sahabi's Between Two Rivers series. Using painted and coiled felt strips Sahabi is reinterpreting Minyan ceramic design from ancient Greece that dates back to 2200 BC. The title, Between Two Rivers, refers Mesopotamia, or modern day Iraq, the birthplace of the potter's turntable, an invention that forever changed the ceramic art form, paving the way for the circular, ridged form in pottery throughout the ages. Please note, this piece can not hold water.
