Who or what are your influences?
My mixed cultural background is my greatest influencer. I grew up between the US and Saudi Arabia and Dubai has been my home as an adult.
What inspires you?
Jewelry. It lasts for generations. So all the stories and memories connected to each piece live on.
Tell us a bit about your production process.
It all starts with an idea. Some ideas come spontaneously and some need time to grow. I try to design each piece with patience and attention to detail. I begin with pencil and paper; I’m old fashioned like that. Then each design has a hand-crafted mold made where I can go over it and make sure it is all as I imagined.
How long have you been in business? When did you start?
It has been a year and a half since I launched my first independent fine jewelry line.
Why did you decide to become a designer?
I think design chose me! I was born with the need to make things. Designing and creating is something I have always done in one form or another.
Describe a typical day at the studio.
A good day starts with homemade green juice! I like to keep flexible hours, but I am in the studio or workshop Sunday to Thursday every morning until early afternoon. This time is spent designing, meeting clients and overseeing the pieces in production.
Where did you study? Train? Work?
I studied at The Rhode Island School of Design.
How would you describe your work in three adjectives?
Subtle, Emotional, Timeless
